lmbench3: measuring scalability
نویسنده
چکیده
lmbench3 extends the lmbench2 system to measure a system’s performance under scalable load to make it possible to assess parallel and distributed computer performance with the same power and flexibility that lmbench2 brought to uni-processor performance analysis. There is a new timing harness, benchmp, designed to measure performance at specific levels of parallel (simultaneous) load, and most existing benchmarks have been converted to use the new harness. lmbench is a micro-benchmark suite designed to focus attention on the basic building blocks of many common system applications, such as databases, simulations, software development, and networking. It is also designed to make it easy for users to create additional micro-benchmarks that can measure features, algorithms, or subsystems of particular interest to the user.

Towards Measuring Scalability In Natural Language Understanding Tasks
In this paper we present a discussion of existing metrics for evaluation the performance of individual natural language understanding systems and components as well as the commonly employed metrics for measuring the specific task difficulties. We extend and generalize the common majority class baseline metric and introduce an general entropy-based metric for measuring the task difficulty of arb...

متن کاملOwnership in Name, But not Necessarily in Action; Comment on “It’s About the Idea Hitting the Bull’s Eye”: How Aid Effectiveness Can Catalyse the Scale-up of Health Innovations”
A recently-published paper by Wickremasinghe et al assesses the scalability of pilot projects in three countries using the aid effectiveness agenda as an analytical framework. The authors report uneven progress and recommend applying aid effectiveness principles to improve the scalability of projects. This commentary focuses on one key principle of aid effectiveness – country ownership; it desc...

Linux introduces POSIX Real Time signals to report I/O activity on multiple connections with more scalability than traditional models. In this paper we explore ways of improving the scalability and performance of POSIX RT signals even more by measuring system call latency and by creating bulk system calls that can deliver multiple signals at once.
